First seen in 1988, the Avante established itself as an innovative contender in RC circles. Tamiya revives that spirit with the Avante Mk.II, now riding on the proven DF-03 chassis to offer updated packaging and modern running qualities.
The model features an aerodynamic polycarbonate shell that keeps weight down while reflecting the original profile. High-density spike tyres deliver reliable traction on loose tracks, and the chassis layout supports consistent steering response.
The DF-03 layout uses compact gearboxes front and rear with sealed ball differentials to reduce contamination. Ball bearings are fitted throughout to lower friction, and the independent double wishbone suspension with long arms helps maintain wheel control over rough sections.
A Type 540 motor is provided in the kit, giving enough punch for trail and club racing. You will need to supply an electronic speed controller separately to match your motor and battery choice.
Tamiya Avante Mk.II DF-03 appeals to modellers and club racers who appreciate period styling with modern mechanicals. The build is straightforward and the setup is forgiving on varied off-road surfaces.
