Start a Tuning Project with Tamiya TamTech-Gear GB-01

RC modelling mixes engineering and creativity, and Tamiya has long delivered reliable TamTech-Gear kits. The Tamiya TamTech-Gear GB-01 chassis kit is aimed at hobbyists who want to learn the mechanics behind their car by assembling and tuning a compact 1/12 platform.

What Makes the GB-01 Practical

The GB-01 is friendly for newcomers but also offers a tidy platform for experienced builders to tweak. Building the chassis gives insight into setup choices and lets you personalise gear ratios, suspension and cosmetic options.

Simple, Clear Assembly Steps

The kit comes with important parts pre-installed, such as the rear ball differential and universal shaft, reducing fiddly steps. The CVA damper set is included too, making it easier to dial in ride and damping for different surfaces.

Efficient Motor and Body Flexibility

The included type 370 motor provides long run times of around 30 minutes under modest loads. The chassis accepts any TamTech-Gear body shell, providing flexibility to change style or experiment with different aero setups.

Specifications

  • Scale: 1/12
  • Motor: Type 370
  • Compatibility: All TamTech-Gear bodies
  • Assembly: User-friendly with pre-installed components

Ordered quite a lot of stuff from these guys & the packaging & condition of the items delivered was excellent. The service is second to none & I will definitely buy from these again.
Build time varies with experience, but expect a few evenings for a careful assembly and initial setup if you follow the manual step by step.
Yes. The chassis accepts standard 1/12 components, so you can fit higher performance motors, a better ESC or a more precise servo as you upgrade.
The CVA damper set allows basic damping adjustments, and you can change springs and geometry to suit smooth tracks or bumpier surfaces.
Standard hobby tools like hex drivers, pliers and side cutters are sufficient. A small set of screwdrivers and thread lock for metal screws is also handy.
