Spur hub overview and benefits

The RD-630R is a purpose-built, lightweight spur gear hub for Yokomo RD/SD/MD series drift chassis, designed as an aftermarket tuning accessory. Its larger outside diameter increases the spur engagement surface, which helps the gear retain better contact and reduces rotational vibration when driven hard.

By moving the spur closer to the gear case compared with earlier hub designs, the unit reduces bending moment on the top shaft during quick throttle inputs, translating to a firmer and more immediate response through the driveline in RC use.

When replacing the series standard spur gear hub types (for example Y4-630A, Y2-630PA, Y2-630RA), note that the set screw fixing position differs; fitting the RD-630R in place of those hubs requires the special aluminum top shaft RD-631. Verify top shaft compatibility before installation and check spur alignment after fitting.
