RD-630BK Hub Technical Summary

The RD-630BK is a precision lightweight spur gear hub created for Yokomo's RD, SD and MD drift chassis. Its increased diameter expands spur contact, which assists in stabilising rotation and reducing vibration during controlled throttle and steering inputs.

Because the hub places the spur gear nearer the gear case compared with some previous hubs, the top shaft sees less upward loading during sudden acceleration, resulting in a crisper drive feeling. Replacements for older series-standard hubs like Y4-630A, Y2-630PA, or Y2-630RA will note a different set-screw fixing location.

If your chassis needs the alternate fixing position, Yokomo advises using the RD-631 top shaft to secure correct set-screw alignment. The RD-630BK is supplied as a hop-up to refine spur engagement and drivetrain response rather than alter gear ratios.

Specifications

As a direct hop-up for compatible Yokomo drift chassis, the RD-630BK focuses on better spur hold and reduced vibration; pair it with the RD-631 top shaft where the set-screw position differs from older hubs.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
The larger contact area can distribute load more evenly across the spur gear, which may reduce premature wear under sustained use; regular inspection of set screws and mesh is still recommended.
Only certain chassis and older hub replacements need the RD-631 because of the alternate set-screw position. Verify your original hub type such as Y4-630A, Y2-630PA, or Y2-630RA to decide.
The source listing does not specify included bearings or spur gears. Check the retailer's product page for the exact package contents before purchase.
Confirm the set-screw sits correctly, re-check gear mesh under slight load, and listen for any unusual vibration during a few cautious test runs to ensure the tuning benefit is realised.
