About the RP Ultra Shock Oil

The Yokomo RP-113425 RP Ultra Shock Oil #42.5 is a silicone-based fluid intended for RC shock absorbers. Packaged in a 40cc bottle and marked blue, the RP Ultra range now offers closer viscosity steps for more precise adjustments.

Role in setup: Changing shock oil viscosity alters internal damping rates to affect both compression and rebound. This lets you tune handling characteristics without modifying mechanical components.

Installation and handling: To service shocks, follow your shock manufacturer's instructions: remove the shock, drain old oil, refill with the selected viscosity, and expel air by compressing the shock before resealing. Keep the bottle closed when idle and prevent contamination to preserve consistent performance.

Tuning notes: The #42.5 option provides a balanced damping level. Test changes between neighbouring viscosities and keep notes, since spring rate, piston choice, and surface conditions will also change how the car reacts.

Each bottle contains 40cc of oil and the #42.5 grade is colored blue to make selection faster when preparing shocks.

Pick 42.5 when you want a mid-range damping effect. If the car is too lively, move up to a thicker oil; if it is sluggish over bumps, try a thinner grade and re-evaluate.
