Slim Wing Servo Specifications

The Futaba S3155 is a compact digital high-speed servo engineered for wing-mounted control surfaces where depth is limited. Its slim black case and metal gear set provide a balance of light weight and dependable response for small gliders and electric models.

Plan installations to accommodate inrush and operating current: use power sources and wiring that can provide peak amps, minimise lead length and ensure linkages are free to move to prevent binding and excessive current draw.

For best results in wing bays, use the shortest practical wiring, check linkages for free movement, and select the included horn that provides the desired travel and centring during setup.

The servo measures 30 x 11 x 29 mm (depth 11 mm), making it suitable for slim wing compartments where depth is limited. Verify clearance for servo horns and linkages before final installation.
The box includes multiple horn types (4-arm, straight, round), two eyelets, two rubber grommets and two 2x12mm self-threading screws to cover common mounting methods.
Ensure the servo is not overloaded by oversized surfaces, minimise binding in linkages, and provide adequate ventilation in enclosed bays to help dissipate heat during extended operation.
The S3155 is rated at 28 oz-in (2.0 kg·cm) at 4.8V. For large or heavily loaded control surfaces, compare required torque to this figure and consider a higher-torque servo if more force is needed.
The servo ships with a 154 mm (6 in) lead. Extension is possible, but keep extensions as short as practical and use heavier gauge wire to limit voltage drop for wing-mounted servos.
