Race-Focused 2.0mm Carbon Base for Serpent Eryx 4.0

The Serpent 401639 is a competition-grade chassis plate intended for the Serpent Eryx 4.0. Manufactured from stiff 2.0mm carbon, it is aimed at high-grip tracks where a firm platform reduces unwanted flex. The result is improved consistency through corners and more precise feedback at the wheel.

Which Chassis Suits Your Surface

There are three chassis designs offered for the Eryx 4.0 to suit different track surfaces and handling goals:

  • 401639 - Carbon 2.0mm: Best for very high traction tracks due to maximum stiffness and minimal flex.
  • 401640 - Aluminum 2.0mm: Works well on indoor carpet for a balanced feel and controlled flex properties.
  • 401641 - Carbon 2.25mm: Recommended for outdoor asphalt where a slightly more compliant carbon helps maintain grip.

Choosing the correct chassis will alter handling characteristics, so try setups that complement the chassis stiffness and your driving preferences. Carbon offers the firmest platform while aluminium gives a more progressive response.

On very grippy carpet, the 401639 delivers predictable handling, but it can be harsh if the track is less consistent. For some indoor layouts, the aluminium 401640 may provide better overall balance.
The carbon plate is similar in thickness to the aluminium option, so static ride height should not change much. However, handling will shift due to stiffness differences, so expect to tweak shocks and anti-roll settings.
Perform a few timed runs focusing on entry and mid corner balance, then adjust shock damping and toe to smooth transition and improve stability under power. Record changes to revert if needed.
Electronics mounting positions remain standard, but verify screw lengths and brace clearances during installation to avoid stress points on the rigid carbon plate.
