7075-T6 Alloy Top-Cap Upgrade

Made for TRAXXAS Unlimited Desert Racer platforms, these aftermarket shock caps focus on robust construction and practical serviceability. The caps are CNC-machined from 7075-T6 aluminum to replace the stock top caps and are compatible with standard shock bodies as well as GPM aftermarket shock units.

Key design features include fitted bladders that help preserve seal life, a bleeder port to simplify pressure relief and maintenance, and a pivot ball interface to keep suspension articulation smooth at the damper crown. The set is intended to be a direct swap using the original mounting location.

Installation guidance: remove the shock from its mount to access the top cap, manage shock oil before opening the damper, swap in the alloy cap and fit the supplied bladder, then reassemble and test for leaks at the bleeder. Familiarity with basic shock servicing ensures proper seal placement and oil level.

Role in tuning: these caps do not modify valving. They help maintain a stable seal and can slightly affect articulation at the top of travel, making ride feel more consistent under repeated use. Treat them as a durability and service improvement rather than a valving upgrade.

The kit includes bladders for each cap. Bladders improve sealing under pressure and help maintain damping consistency by reducing oil aeration during use.
Remove the shock, drain or control the oil, install the cap and bladder, then refill and cycle the shock while checking for leaks at the bleeder. Verify oil level and seal seating before reinstalling.
