Setup and Application Notes

This 2-piece Yokomo YOKD170BL spring set is built for standard drift applications where small changes in spring behavior alter slide and steering response on 1/10 models. The soft blue 1.1 x 10.5 turns profile is chosen to give a more forgiving feel during slides.

Fitting instructions: place the spring onto the shock shaft or into the spring cup as per your shock maker's recommended orientation, secure with the appropriate preload collar, and inspect travel to prevent binding. Take care to seat the spring evenly to maintain consistent shock motion.

Tuning guidance: a softer spring rate encourages extended slip and gentler angle transitions while lessening sudden recovery. Use gradual preload adjustments and consider tyre compound and ride height changes to dial in front-to-rear behaviour.

Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. What should I check before fitting these springs to aftermarket shocks?

Is it practical to swap these between front and rear axles?

Yes, you can fit them to either axle, but they will affect handling differently; try them rear first for increased rotation, then experiment with front fitment if you need milder steering response.

Are special collars required or will standard ones work?

Standard spring preload collars and cups are normally suitable; just ensure collars are sized and positioned to give the travel and preload you want without compressing the spring excessively.
