Upgraded aluminium centre gearbox for Tamiya 1/14

The TRU018 alloy centre gearbox is an aftermarket housing designed specifically for 1/14 scale Tamiya tractor units. Replacing the factory plastic centre gearbox, the aluminium case includes an integrated heat sink section to better shed heat from the centre drivetrain during sustained operation. The assembly is supplied as a 2pcs set with the required mounting screws for a straightforward replacement.

Intended as an RC drivetrain upgrade, the housing increases torsional stiffness and durability where a firmer coupling between front and rear is desired. The unit preserves the original drive orientation and mounting points on compatible Tamiya models, making it suitable as a direct-fit aluminium alternative to the plastic original.

Installation guidance: remove the original centre gearbox after disassembling the centre section, then secure the alloy unit with the supplied screws. After fitting, recheck gear mesh and alignment and perform an initial run under light load to ensure smooth engagement. Only standard RC hex tools are required and using thread locking compound is a personal choice based on maintenance needs.
