The Tamiya 14085 captures the Yamaha YZF-R1 in a compact 1/12 scale aimed at modellers who value engine and body detail. This Taira Racing edition nods to Tadahiko Taira's race heritage and uses a brown-tinted transparent cowl so the internal engine work remains visible after assembly.

Accurate components and finish quality

Chrome-finish parts for the frame and rear arms give a realistic metallic impression while the Michelin High Sports tyres are modelled to reflect the original pattern. The model's four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine is fixed to the frame using small screws to preserve alignment and realism. The rear seat cowl detaches for a single-seat look and a display racing stand is supplied.
