Overview of the Tamiya 14092 1/12 Repsol Honda RC211V kit

This 1/12 scale plastic model kit captures the Repsol Honda RC211V with emphasis on engine and chassis detail, intended for modelers who want a faithful static replica.

The Repsol Honda RC211V was developed by Honda in the early 2000s as a four-stroke V5 racing motorcycle. The compact V5 engine arrangement, fuel tank placement beneath the seat, and Honda Unit Pro-Link rear suspension are engineering features aimed at concentrating mass and improving handling. Factory teams campaigned the RC211V during the years when four-stroke machines became predominant in premier-class competition.

Details and kit features

The kit reproduces the RC211V V5 engine configuration, showing the correct cylinder orientation and the distinct exhaust routing. The exhaust assembly and outlet shapes are modelled to reflect the prototype. Metal-plated parts are used for the frame and Unit Pro-Link swing arm to enhance visual realism. Upper bodywork and the seat cowl are fastened with small precision screws so they can be removed for detailing or display options. The decal sheet provides the Repsol colour scheme and two rider numbers included in the pack.

Ideal for builders focused on accurate replication of engine and chassis components for shelf display.

Build time varies with skill, but expect several evenings for assembly plus additional time for painting and finishing to reach high-detail results.
Use model-specific plastic cement for joins and hobby-grade acrylic or lacquer paints for the bodywork; a fine brush or airbrush will yield the best finish.
For conforming decals to curved panels, a decal setting solution is recommended to prevent silvering and to help the graphics sit cleanly on the surface.
Additional detailing such as weathering, fine paintwork on engine parts, and careful masking for livery lines will raise the model to a display standard.
