Quick outline of the Tamiya 15456 JR Setting Gear Set for AR

The Tamiya 15456 JR Setting Gear Set provides Mini 4WD fans with the ability to refine their AR chassis performance. The kit's range of gear options helps optimise drive characteristics for different track profiles.

Which chassis and what it brings

This gear set works with AR, VS, Super-II, Super TZ, and Super TZ-X chassis. On AR models, its options help balance the front motor architecture for snappy acceleration or improved high speed, depending on choice of ratio.

Ratio choices and mechanical advantages

Available ratios cover 3.5:1 through 5:1, giving practical scope for tuning. The inclusion of a fluorine-coated gear shaft and a 620 ball bearing lowers friction and supports more consistent gear engagement.

Assembly and practical tips

The kit includes a 1.4mm hollow lightweight propeller shaft together with reinforced pinion and G-13 gears, all built for straightforward fitting. These parts slot into standard setups so you can swap ratios without long rebuilds.

Excellent service, two of the items I purchased were out of stock but was given fair options on refund, store credit or replacement. I opted for replacement as there was a different version available and one of the items did arrive bent and they sent out
Yes. The set is listed as compatible with VS in addition to AR and several Super series chassis, so it fits multiple platforms.
For tight, technical layouts try a lower ratio to improve acceleration out of corners. Run a few practice laps to confirm the best setting for grip and layout.
Light lubrication on moving contact points helps maintain smooth operation, but avoid over greasing the fluorine-coated shaft area to prevent attracting debris.
The supplied 620 ball bearing reduces friction compared with plain bushings, which can lead to steadier performance and less wear under race conditions.
