Tamiya 15547 - Spike Tire & Wheel Set EZ for off-road runs

The Tamiya 15547 Spike Tire & Wheel Set delivers added traction for Mini 4WD cars built on the EZ chassis. Its spike tread helps machines keep momentum on loose or uneven surfaces, making it suited to trail outings and gravity-heavy slopes.

Fit and Application

This package includes four spike tyres in black elastomer and four gun metal polypropylene wheels. The pronounced spikes increase traction on irregular terrain and assist with climbs. These wheels are specifically made for Trail Mini 4WD kit hex shafts and are not compatible with standard Mini 4WD race car axles. Depending on your body shell, minor modifications may be required for clearance.

Are these tyres suitable for indoor race layouts?

No. The spike tread is optimised for outdoor-style rough surfaces rather than smooth indoor race lanes.

Do I need special hubs or adapters?

No extra adapters are required if you are fitting them to Trail Mini 4WD hex shafts. They are not compatible with standard race car shaft types.

How do these compare to regular slick tyres?

Spike tyres sacrifice top-speed rolling efficiency for increased bite on uneven ground, so they are better where grip is more important than lap times.

Any fit tips before final assembly?

Check wheel-to-body clearance and rotate the wheels by hand to confirm no rubbing. Trim inner body mounts if needed for freer movement.
