Originally unveiled at Honda's Tama Tech in 1961, the Monkey stood out for its compact silhouette and fun aesthetic, typically shown with a red frame and white fuel tank. To mark the new millennium Honda issued a 2000 Special limited to 3,000 examples, a model that still appeals to classic bike fans.
The Tamiya 1/6 model reproduces the 2000 Special with fine detail. Finished dimensions are 224mm long by 100mm wide and 175mm tall. The kit includes a faithful miniature of the 49cc SOHC engine, foldable handlebars and metal spring suspension, plus decal sheets to represent a range of Monkey liveries.
Custom work is part of the Monkey's charm and this kit reflects that with two optional custom parts, including an alternative muffler. Builders can tailor the look and finish to suit display goals or diorama projects.
