Night Hunter product summary

The Tamiya Night Hunter stands out for its race-driven silhouette and practical engineering aimed at Mini 4WD fans. Using the FM-A chassis, it offers a poised ride that suits both practice sessions and local race nights.

Streamlined race-style shell

The Night Hunter features a streamlined shell shaped to cut wind and maintain balance through corners. The profile helps reduce turbulence and keeps the car steady at speed.

Front-midship FM-A chassis details

With a front-mid motor position the FM-A chassis lowers mass forward, improving grip through complex track elements. The layout includes a front skid bar, robust rear rollers and accessible motor mounting for easy swaps.

Upgrade and modification paths

There are plenty of tuning routes for this kit, including:

  • Motors: Try higher-output 130 motors to lift acceleration and top speed.
  • Tires: Choose low-profile or slick tyres to suit slippery or abrasive surfaces.
  • Gears: Swap gear sets to adjust acceleration versus peak velocity.
  • Dampers: Fit upgraded dampers to stabilise body roll and cornering.

Assembly tips and tricks

The Night Hunter kit assembles cleanly with snap-fit parts and intuitive steps, making setup quick while leaving room for fine adjustments by experienced builders.

Specifications

  • Chassis Type: FM-A
  • Body Style: Aerodynamic Race Car
  • Motor Compatibility: Standard 130 Single-Shaft Motors
  • Wheel Type: Slick Tires

Thanks to the FM-A chassis and race-minded shell, the Tamiya Night Hunter is a flexible Mini 4WD option for tuners who want predictable handling and upgrade potential.

They look great & I can't wait to start assembling!
Yes. The FM-A accepts standard 130 single-shaft motors, so you can swap to higher-performance units without chassis surgery.
For carpet, low-profile rubber tyres or grippy slicks are a good match to preserve traction and reduce rolling resistance.
Focus on roller placement, lower centre of gravity, and adding simple dampers; small geometry changes often give the biggest gains.
