The Lotus 25 Coventry Climax is a milestone in Grand Prix engineering, introducing a monocoque chassis in 1962 that transformed car stiffness and weight distribution. Colin Chapman and Team Lotus designed a thin aluminium shell to replace conventional tubular frames, setting a new benchmark for race car construction.
Underneath the body was a 1.5-liter Coventry Climax V8 that paired with sophisticated suspension choices, including a front rocking arm with inboard springs and a rear arrangement using lower A arms and upper I arms. With Jim Clark behind the wheel the car scored three wins in its debut year and went on to dominate the 1963 season with seven victories, clinching both titles for Lotus.
This 1/20 scale Tamiya kit recreates the look and construction of the original car, offering a rewarding model build for display in a shelf or cabinet.
