The Tamiya 21148 kit brings the Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero Fighter to life, depicting the Type 52-Kou operated by the 343rd Flying Corps during the 1944 Guam operation. As part of the Masterwork Series, this finished model showcases careful historical detailing and the narrative of the aircraft's recovery, including the pilot's commemorative flag.
At 1/48 scale the A6M5 is reproduced with attention to scale fidelity. The model's fuselage measures 190mm and the wingspan is 229mm, resulting in a well-proportioned replica. The kit includes fine pad-printed insignia, photo-etched parts for delicate elements, and a seated pilot figure for authenticity.
Display realism is enhanced with judicious weathering across the airframe and burn-effect shading on exhaust areas to simulate operational conditions. Metal fittings, such as pitot tubes, are present to boost the model's realistic appearance.
