The Tamiya 1/24 Honda Prelude XX captures the look and engineering of the second generation Prelude from the early 80s. When launched in 1982 the car was praised for its front double wishbone up front and MacPherson strut at the rear, delivering stable handling and a comfortable ride. Its front-wheel-drive setup and optional 4-wheel ABS were progressive features for the era.
The production Prelude used a 1,829cc SOHC 4-cylinder engine with three valves per cylinder producing around 125 hp and a top speed near 170 km/h. The slim, wedge-shaped bodywork with pop-up headlights and sunroof is faithfully represented in the kit, giving builders an opportunity to recreate the model with scaled accuracy.
The Honda Prelude XX kit from Tamiya works well for both casual builders and more experienced hobbyists. A removable hood reveals the engine bay, which is modelled with fine detail. The headlights can be shown in either up or down positions and the synthetic rubber tyres feature authentic tread for a realistic finish.
