The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL earned its place in automotive history thanks to pioneering engineering and striking gullwing doors. Debuted in 1954 as part of Mercedes-Benz's racing and road car development, its 3-litre straight-six and distinctive styling made it highly sought after. Production ran until 1957 with around 1,400 units made, which contributed to its collectible status.
Tamiya's 1/24 rendition captures the character of the 300 SL with practical build features. The model includes working gullwing doors and a bonnet that lifts to show a detailed engine compartment. Metal-plated transfers and newly designed tyre components contribute to an authentic look, and the kit shows the car's tubular space frame layout for added realism.
