The Tamiya 1/24 Lotus Europa Special replicates a compact sports car known for clever packaging and light construction. Produced from 1966 to 1972, the Europa Special carried a 126hp 1,558cc powerplant, a five-speed transmission and distinctive alloy wheels. This updated kit includes parts to better match the original cars presentation.
Notable for its mid-engine layout and fibreglass bodywork, the Europa shared design ideas with competition cars of its day. This model reflects those proportions faithfully, and the reissue adds a rear wing plus optional RS Watanabe style wheels to align with period options.
Builders will find the engine bay remains visible, showing the twin carburetor and gear linkage mouldings. Interior items like the instrument cluster, bucket seats and the three-spoke steering wheel are accurately represented. Included photo-etched grille parts and metal transfers for Lotus logos help lift the realism on display shelves.
