The Tamiya 25119 release covers the Japanese I-58 submarine and the USS Indianapolis at 1/700 scale, offering parts that reproduce their late war appearance. The set is tailored for modellers who focus on accurate rigging and deck detail in small-scale ships.
The I-58 assembly parts reflect the configuration seen during the July 30, 1945 encounter, with finely modelled deck fittings such as radar housings, anti-aircraft mounts and manned torpedo gear. The periscope assemblies can be modelled in either an extended or lowered position to suit different display scenes.
The Indianapolis items capture the ship's July 1945 profile with a detailed bridge and mast layout, funnels and radar arrays. Armament is replicated with triple 20.3cm turrets, 12.7cm dual purpose guns and multiple AA mounts. Poly caps are supplied to permit rotation of turrets, and the kit includes parts to build two Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk seaplanes for added realism.
