This combined kit appeals to builders who enjoy both WWII fighters and period support vehicles. It presents the Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien fighter alongside the small Type 95 Kurogane light 4x4, offering complementary subjects for display.
The Ki-61-Id is unusual among Japanese designs for its liquid-cooled engine, producing a sleeker nose profile. This production version mounts 20mm cannon in the nose and 12.7mm machine guns in the wings, making it a capable front-line fighter.
At 1/48 scale the kit reproduces cockpit and engine bay details, including ammunition containers and an oil cooler. Builders can finish the canopy either open or closed, remove the upper cowling for an engine view, and use the provided masks for precise glazing. Two decal schemes represent the 244th Air Group.
The compact Type 95 Kurogane was used for reconnaissance and communications over diverse terrain. This miniature includes decals and metal transfer parts for accurate marking, plus figure parts for a driver and an officer to populate scenes.
