The Agano served as a destroyer flotilla leader during World War II, coordinating torpedo strikes and engaging in multiple Pacific operations. As the nameship of her class, she was built before the war and was later lost to a US submarine near Truk.
Tamiya's 1/700 Agano kit portrays the cruiser as completed in 1942, offering faithful hull proportions, mast outlines and the twin 15cm gun turrets. The kit balances fine surface detail with parts that are straightforward to assemble for experienced hobbyists.
The package includes finely detailed plastic parts, small metal fittings for added weight and realism, waterslide decals and detailed pictorial instructions. Assembly requires glue and benefits from careful painting to bring out the kit's sculpted detail.
