The Tamiya 1/700 representation of the IJN Shiratsuyu brings this wartime destroyer to the modelling bench with careful attention to proportion. The Shiratsuyu-class addressed earlier stability shortcomings and became a notable wartime design, though the class did not survive the conflict.
Finished in 1936, the Shiratsuyu was armed with a mix of guns and torpedoes, including five 12.7cm main guns and two quadruple 61cm torpedo launchers. The kit accurately models those weapon placements and hull characteristics for rigging and paintwork.
This injection-moulded kit is well suited to hobbyists who prioritise scale accuracy. With a completed length of 157mm, it includes waterslide decals and detailed pictorial instructions to help with neat assembly and authentic finishing.
