The Tamiya 1/700 IJN Destroyer Sakura captures the Tei Type destroyer style fielded by Japan in late World War II. Launched in November 1944, Sakura represents late-war construction methods and the kit conveys those characteristics faithfully for scale enthusiasts.
Designed for speed of production, Tei Type destroyers traded complexity for utility. This model reproduces the Sakura's defensive layout, including the 25mm anti-aircraft mounts, plus deck fittings and the No.13 air search radar for accurate reference work.
The assembled ship measures 143mm and delivers a concise building project with precise parts and realistic surface detail. Included waterslide decals and metal bits assist with accurate marking and help stabilise the model on display.
