The USS Indianapolis earned a notable place in naval history after commissioning in 1932 and serving through vital Pacific operations in World War II. This Tamiya 1/700 model shows the ship as seen in July 1945, offering modellers a focused subject for a historically faithful build.
As a task force flagship, Indianapolis supported major fleet actions and carried important cargoes to the Pacific islands. The model reflects the ship's wartime appearance and helps builders appreciate its operational role through scaled detail.
Tamiya provides crisply molded parts that replicate the ship's armament, superstructure and deck fittings. The kit includes fine anti-aircraft models, rotating turrets and realistic deck textures such as anchor chain and non-slip surfaces. At 1/700 scale the assembled hull measures about 266mm long and 29mm across.
