The Tamiya 1/700 representation of the Royal Australian Navy Destroyer Vampire provides a faithful small-scale replica of HMAS Vampire. Constructed in Britain and later transferred to Australian service, the vessel features a noteworthy wartime record. This kit is intended for model enthusiasts who appreciate historical naval subjects and precise detailing.
HMAS Vampire began life with the British fleet and was transferred to the Royal Australian Navy in 1933. It operated in the Mediterranean and subsequently served with Force Z in Singapore. The ship was active during the events surrounding the loss of Prince of Wales and Repulse and ultimately sank in 1942 alongside HMS Hermes off Ceylon.
The kit includes polycaps that permit rotation of the main gun assemblies and torpedo launchers, allowing modellers to pose the ship for action or parade arrangements. High-quality decals and a flag sheet are supplied to reproduce accurate insignia and pennants on the finished model.
This HMAS Vampire makes a strong addition to a collection of WWII ships and can be paired with other Force Z models such as Prince of Wales and Repulse to recreate period scenes at 1/700 scale.
