The USS Hammann (DD-412) served as a Sims class destroyer during World War II and is remembered for its actions at Midway and its role in aiding USS Yorktown. The vessel was later lost after being hit by a torpedo from a Japanese submarine. This 1/700 scale kit from Tamiya offers a compact but detailed representation of that ship.
Tamiya's tooling reproduces the Hammann's armament and superstructure faithfully, including 12.7cm main guns and torpedo tubes. The waterline configuration makes it ideal for naval dioramas and group displays featuring World War II vessels.
The kit provides a satisfying build sequence and includes decals for correct markings. Modelers can enhance realism with weathering and photo-etch upgrades, then display the completed hull in a shelf or diorama setting.
