The Sturmgeschutz III Ausf. B was originally an assault gun based on the Panzer III chassis, using a fixed superstructure and a 75mm L24 short gun instead of a turret. Its straightforward silhouette and battlefield role make it popular with modellers wanting accurate small-scale armour.
The Ausf. B was the first StuG mass-production run, with over 250 units built beginning in June 1940. It proved useful in early campaigns including the Balkans and the Soviet invasion, providing dependable support and anti-tank capability.
Tamiya's 1/48 version features finely moulded components and a weighted lower hull for realism. Assembly requires glue, and the kit includes glued-track parts and three decal schemes so you can model different field markings for showcase or table-top displays.
