The Tamiya 32554 kit captures the German Flakvierling 38, a four-barrel 20mm anti-aircraft weapon used during the Second World War. Originally deployed by the Kriegsmarine and adapted for ground units, the Flakvierling combined multiple barrels to improve hit probability against low-flying aircraft. This miniature reproduces the layout and purpose of the original in a compact format.
The original weapon was mounted on vehicles, ship decks and improvised platforms, giving modellers many placement options. At 1/48 scale the kit works well in small dioramas or as part of larger display boards, allowing accurate scenes with period vehicles and crew.
The kit includes the quad 20mm barrels attached to a sighting unit, with parts that permit believable elevation and rotation when assembled. Trailer elements are supplied for towing displays compatible with 1/48 trucks and halftracks like the Krupp Protze. Four crew figures and accessory parts such as ammo boxes provide extra realism for tabletop presentation.
