This 1/48 assembly kit captures the modest profile of the Type 95 Kurogane, offering modellers a documented subject with good fit and detail. Notably, it is the first injection-moulded plastic model of this vehicle in any scale, making it a useful reference for historians and hobby builders alike.
Launched in 1935, the Type 95 saw production of about 4,800 examples through 1944. Its air-cooled V2 petrol engine and robust suspension gave it reliable mobility, so it was commonly used for liaison, reconnaissance and staff transport across varied terrain. The kit mirrors those functional features for scale accuracy.
Tamiya balances accessible assembly with accurate surface detail, so builders get a credible miniature without extreme complexity. The grille star is reproduced via a metal transfer and two figures, a Japanese Army Air Force officer and a driver, are supplied to enhance period scenes with other 1/48 Japanese aircraft.
