The Tamiya 1/48 US Modern 4x4 Utility Vehicle - Cargo Type is a finely scaled kit that recreates the versatile US utility truck used from the late 1970s onward. Its operational history includes notable deployments such as Panama in 1989 and the Gulf War in 1991, reflecting its widespread service use.

Origins and Real Vehicle Traits

The prototype was chosen for its light construction and strong off-road ability. It featured a 150hp V8 diesel engine, independent suspension on all four wheels and a 4WD drivetrain to handle rough ground. The Cargo Type provided a roomy rear deck able to carry roughly 1,100kg or up to eight soldiers.
