This 1/48 scale Tamiya kit portrays the M8 self-propelled howitzer, a mobile artillery piece that supported infantry across multiple WWII fronts. The model balances fine detail with a manageable build size for hobbyists who like small-scale armour projects.
Mounted on an M5 Stuart chassis, the M8 carried the 75 mm M116 howitzer in an M7 mount. Production ran to around 1,800 examples between late 1942 and early 1944, and the vehicle saw widespread use in European and Pacific operations where mobile fire support was needed.
The kit reproduces the gun breech and interior features with good fidelity. Builders will find the one-piece straight track sections convenient for alignment while retaining a realistic look. Included metal chassis weights help the model sit correctly and feel substantial once built.
Decal sheets let you finish the model as either the 106th Cavalry Reconnaissance Group in Germany or the 758th Tank Battalion in Italy. A posed commander figure is supplied to enhance the final display.
