Tamiya 32606 reproduces the U.S. Light Tank M5A1 Stuart in a manageable 1/48 scale that suits dioramas and cabinets. The M5A1 was widely used for scouting and light combat roles in World War II, improving on earlier designs with twin V8 engines that allowed speeds up to 58 km/h. This kit focuses on accurate form and period character.
The model highlights the welded hull construction and sloped armour that characterised the M5 series. The turret assembly shows the 37mm main gun and the provision for a 7.62mm machine gun, while track grousers and surface textures reflect the Stuart's service in North Africa, Italy and on the Western Front.
Included are newly moulded sections for the front and upper hull plus a detailed turret with lifelike weld lines and cast textures. The straight section one-piece tracks simplify assembly, and a commander torso with binoculars is provided. Two marking choices represent vehicles from the 3rd Armored Division, suitable for a July 1944 Western Front theme.
