The Tamiya 35130 kit captures the Ford M151 MUTT, the successor to the M38A1 "Jeep", developed in the early 1950s by Ford in partnership with the U.S. Army. Notable original features include an OHV engine layout, semi-monocoque construction and independent suspension. This injection-moulded kit reflects those design elements and represents the MUTT's varied service roles during the Vietnam War, such as ambulatory support and missile carriage platforms.
The M416 cargo trailer included with the kit represents the logistic support standard for the MUTT. Carefully modelled to match scale proportions, the trailer enhances scene building and gives a fuller picture of period transport and supply operations.
