The King Tiger, or Tiger II, represents late war German heavy tank design focused on protection and firepower. Built to defeat Allied armour, it carried an 88mm high-velocity gun and thick sloped armour. Limited production began at Henschel from August 1944 onward.
Under the bonnet the King Tiger used a Maybach HL230 P30 V-12 engine producing about 700 hp, and the turret front armour measured approximately 185mm. These real-world specs give model makers plenty of surface detail to capture at 1/35 scale.
The Tamiya set contains precision-moulded plastic parts in light brown and black, plus a display-ready 88mm gun and flexible track links. A commander figure, waterslide decal sheet and vinyl intake netting are supplied to help produce an authentic finish. Note that glue and paints are not included.
