The King Tiger, or Panzerkampfwagen VI-B, became notable in later WWII campaigns for its heavy armament and protection. The Porsche turret version is identified by its rounded nose and slimmer profile. Tamiya 35169 reproduces this variant in 1/35 scale for hobbyists seeking historical accuracy on the workbench.
Conceived to counter increasingly capable enemy armour, the King Tiger entered service in 1943. The Porsche turret was one of two turret types produced; while less common than the Henschel turret, it still saw frontline action and is an interesting subject for modellers focused on wartime engineering differences.
This static model supplies finely moulded components in two-tone plastic, a standing commander figure, and the flexible tracks needed for realistic assembly. The kit also includes opening hatches and an intake mesh, plus waterslide decals and comprehensive pictorial guidance to assist accurate detailing and paintwork.
