The Universal Carrier Mk.II was a small but adaptable tracked vehicle used extensively during the Second World War. Its open crew area and straightforward construction made it easy to field and maintain, and it is still favoured by history-minded modellers for its practical silhouette and service variety.
Tracing back to interwar experimental carriers, the Mk.II emerged by 1940 as a reliable support vehicle. Powered by a Ford V-8 and typically armed with a Bren light machine gun, it filled roles from transport to reconnaissance across different fronts.
Tamiya's kit reproduces the vehicle with crisp moulded parts in dark green plastic, realistic flexible tracks and five posed figures. The additional small items such as holsters and packs help modellers create authentic crew scenes and period looks.
