The Tamiya 35187 1/35 Zimmerit Coating Applicator is aimed at modellers who want to recreate the distinctive anti-magnetic coating used on WWII German armoured vehicles. It streamlines producing the patterned finish on 1/35 scale kits without resorting to lengthy hand carving.
Zimmerit was a tacky coating applied to tank surfaces in World War II to prevent magnetic mines from sticking. Accurately mimicking that texture is a key detail for historically focused builds, helping models read correctly under paint and weathering.
This kit includes six fine metal saw blades sized for vertical armour panels. The blades measure between 1" and 2" (2.5cm to 4.5cm), offering options for panels of different widths. The applicator handle is not part of this set - it is available separately as No. 74018. An instruction sheet is supplied to guide blade selection and texturing technique.
