The Tiger I earned its reputation with heavy armour and the powerful 8.8cm KwK 36 L/56 gun, first deployed in North Africa toward the end of 1942. A competition between Henschel and Porsche produced the Henschel design for mass production, which began in August 1942. Additions like air pre-cleaners and reinforced mantlets appeared soon after, making the series produced from November 1942 to July 1943 noteworthy.
Tamiya's 1/35 rendition of the early Tiger I captures the vehicle's profile with fine detail. The kit contains over 200 parts to assemble, showing key external features and selected interior turret elements. A commander figure is included for diorama use, and the flexible, single-piece rubber tracks are designed to fit easily and display well.
