The Marder III in frontline service

Built in response to encountering heavily armoured Soviet tanks such as the T34 and KV during the 1941 eastern campaign, the Marder III moved from a 37mm gun to the more powerful 75mm Pak40/L46. Mounted on the Czechoslovakian 38t chassis, the Marder III M served as a stopgap anti-tank solution until more modern designs like the Jagdpanzer 38t Hetzer superseded it.
