The Panzer II played a notable role in the opening campaigns of World War II. Developed discreetly after the First World War, it used the Panzer I hull as a starting point but upgraded the armament to a 2 cm main gun. Production began in 1937 and reached 1088 units by April 1940. These light tanks were front-line assets during the invasions of Poland and France and later served extensively as reconnaissance vehicles.
This Tamiya 1/35 kit recreates the Ausf. A, B and C variants with fine detail. Supplemental armour plates are provided for authentic appearance, and separate moulding for hatches and panels captures the variant differences. The tracks come as single-piece sections for easier fitting. The box also contains a commander figure and three French Campaign marking choices.
For realistic scenes, combine this Panzer II with period pieces such as the French Battle Tank B1 bis or the German 3 Ton 4x2 Cargo Truck. Adding the German Infantry Set (French Campaign) will help populate battlefield vignettes and improve visual storytelling.
