The Tamiya 1/35 US Light Tank M5A1 kit captures a compact but historically significant WWII light tank. Evolved from the M3 Stuart, the M5A1 entered service in 1943 and was widely used for scouting duties across the Italian and North West European theatres. Powered by twin V8 engines, the vehicle could reach roughly 58 km/h on roads.
This edition revisits the earlier 35097 release, faithfully reproducing the M5A1's extra turret armour and its combination of welded and bolted hull panels. The inclusion of hedgerow cutting gear reflects field modifications seen around the Normandy operations.
The kit supplies four crew figures: one manning an anti-aircraft weapon and a separate three-man mortar team. These figures are ideal for creating battlefield vignettes or small scale dioramas.
