The Toyota Model AB Phaeton was introduced in 1936 as part of Toyota's early expansion into series production, following the AA. Powered by a 3.4-liter inline-6, the AB showed clear American styling influence for its era. It featured a folding fabric roof, an adjustable front windscreen and doors hinged at the front. During World War II many units were adapted for military service, finished in khaki and used as staff cars, with only 353 vehicles produced at the time.
Tamiya's 1/35 scale kit of the Toyota AB Phaeton captures those historical proportions and surface details. Research into remaining examples has informed the model's accurate representation.
