The Tamiya 1/35 German Medium Tank Panther Ausf.D model kit offers New Zealand modellers a close reproduction of a notable World War II tank. Created as a counter to the T-34, the Panther mounted an L/70 7.5cm gun that extended its engagement range. Its sloped armour design helped balance protection and mobility, allowing top speeds near 55 km/h.

Background and production overview

The Ausf.D was the first production version, totalling 842 units from January to September 1943. Despite some early mechanical problems from rushed production, the Panther demonstrated strong battlefield performance, including at Kursk.
