The Tamiya 1/35 German Self-Propelled Howitzer Wespe captures a small but important WW2 artillery vehicle with clear moulding and accurate silhouette. Based on the Pz.Kpfw.II running gear, the Wespe mounted a Type 18/2 10.5cm L/28 howitzer in a fixed superstructure. Its light armour did not stop it from making a notable contribution to infantry support tasks.
This issue adds revised parts and updated marking options to represent vehicles deployed on the Italian front. Given the limited production run of 676 units, the Wespe presents a focused subject for modellers interested in artillery and theatre-specific paint schemes.
Expect an engaging build that calls for attention to join lines and small detail work. Once complete, the model photographs well and suits a diorama of Mediterranean or Italian battlefield scenes.
