The Tamiya 1/35 Sd.Kfz.165 Hummel reproduces the WWII self-propelled howitzer used to provide artillery support for armoured formations. Armed with a 15cm L/30 howitzer in an open-top fighting compartment, the Hummel first operated on the Eastern Front from 1943 and later served in western theatres including Italy.
Nicknamed "bumblebee", the Hummel rode on the Geschutzwagen III/IV chassis shared with vehicles like the Nashorn. This late production kit from Tamiya features refreshed mouldings for the upper hull and fighting area, and the track design uses straight one-piece sections to help recreate authentic track droop.
Modellers will value the crisp details and practical assembly flow. Once finished, the model makes an effective display subject for dioramas or a dedicated shelf piece that shows off WWII artillery engineering.
