This injection-moulded 1/35 assembly kit represents the German Tractor RSO/01 and is intended for scale model display and accurate static builds.
The RSO/01 was developed during World War II to serve as a tracked light tractor capable of negotiating deep snow and poor roadways on the Eastern Front. It was powered by a front-mounted 70 hp V8 petrol engine, delivering torque to the rear sprockets via a propeller shaft. Initial production used a rounded pressed-steel cabin; later builds raised the cabin floor to clear wider snow tracks. The RSO fulfilled roles as an artillery tractor and general transport in severe terrain.
The kit mirrors the post-spring 1943 external configuration, including the elevated rounded cabin and characteristic cargo-bed elements. Molded parts present options such as a canvas frame, a wood-texture cargo bed, and fittings for side-mounted snow tracks. External mechanical features like the drive shaft, differential housings, and exposed gear positions are modelled to provide visual authenticity without implying internal service access.
Assembly follows standard sprue construction with straight-section track pieces fitted during the build. Options are provided for the cargo bed with or without a canvas cover, and the cabin front can be assembled with or without shutter panels. Masking stickers accompany the clear window parts to assist painting. The decal sheet covers two 1944 marking choices.
A carefully researched 1/35 rendition of the RSO/01 offering external detail and assembly options that suit display-oriented modellers and collectors.
