The Tamiya 37022 kit lets modellers recreate the German Bundeswehr Self-Propelled Howitzer M109A3G at 1/35 scale with careful attention to historic detail. Created in collaboration with Italeri, the release includes revised components plus Tamiya figures, decals, and clear assembly instructions.

Origin and Operational Changes

Work on the U.S. M109 began in 1952 and the design was adopted by many forces around the world. The Bundeswehr variant M109G introduced special track profiles, a distinct commander's cupola, smoke grenade launchers, and stowage boxes behind the turret. Fitting the FH70 barrel increased firing range to roughly 24.7 km, and this setup remained in service until 2007.

Parts, Fit and Finish

The model reproduces key M109A3G features including the cupola and FH70 barrel, and the moulds have been refined to show details such as the panoramic sight more clearly. The tracks are supplied in a material designed for cementing and painting, allowing a realistic appearance after finishing.
